Colin Potter
Colin Potter passed away on January 18th 2006, at the age of 40 only weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Colin was a family man, very popular with his friends, and had a great rapport with his work colleagues at Rolls Royce in Derby.
"The Colin Potter Memorial 10k" race is held annually in memory of Colin and to raise money for local charities. In 2011, over £4500 was donated and shared between the following charities:
- Rainbows £1,300
- Nightingale Macmillan continuing care unit £1,000
- Winston's Wish £1,300
- Treetops hospice £1,000
In total over £20,000 has been donated to deserving charities over the last six years. A big thank you to everyone who's been involved and kindly donated or taken part in the event.
There's an added incentive to participate in the race; the family of Colin Potter kindly donate £50 to the first male and female across the finish line in the prize giving of each memorial race.
This years event is on Friday 6th July 2011 starting and finishing at Haslams, home of Derby Rugby club. Come along, take part and bring the whole family down to enjoy the friendliest 10k race on the Derby circuit.
